On Friday, October 17, Casa VEHU hosted an enriching talk with Ákos Farkas, genealogist and researcher of contemporary Hungarian history.

Around thirty people gathered to learn and reflect on the events that took place before, during, and after the Revolution of October 23, 1956, a key moment in Hungary’s history. Through stories, family testimonies, and personal accounts shared by Ákos, we gained a deeper understanding of those days of hope, struggle, and resistance.

The discussion also revealed meaningful parallels between the Hungarian Revolution and the ongoing Venezuelan pursuit of democracy and civility. Though born from different contexts, these stories are united by a shared yearning for freedom and justice.

The event strengthened the bonds of understanding, integration, and empathy between the Venezuelan and Hungarian communities, reminding us that learning about history is also a way to build a more aware and compassionate present.

🙏 We thank Ákos for his generosity and everyone who joined us for this evening of memory, reflection, and dialogue.
